Irish, Polka (2/4 time). E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Green Cottage [2]" is a member of a family of tunes that is derivative of the older "St. Patrick" melodies. The oldest sound recording of the melody was by fiddler Patrick Gafney in 1923, under the title "McAllister's Fling" (OKeh 4840). Sliabh Luachra accordion player Denis Doody recorded the tune (with fiddler Donal O'Connor and guitarist Batt O'Connor) on the album "An Evening in Sliabh Luachra, Volume One" (1988) as "The Little Green Cottage."

See also an untitled polka in Breathnach's Ceol Rince na hÉireann, vol. II (1976), No. 130.
