JAMES LUMSDEN. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). B Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Walker (b. 1816) for James Lumsden of Braco. Lumdsden was the tenant of the farm of Braco, in Banff, which belonged to the Earl of Fife. Lumsden was a gentleman farmer, and interested in improving the land (see his "Report on Draining and Subsoil Ploughing on the Farm of Braco", which won a silver medal of the Agricultural Society). He also raised prize Clydesdale horses. He died at Walkerburn, Innerleithen, in 1883.
