LARK IN THE BOG, THE. Irish, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'CC'DD'EE'. The title is a condensation of two closely related tunes in a large tune family, "Lark's March (The)" and "Geese in the Bog (1)," of which "Lark in the Bog" is a member. "Lark in the Bog" is the title for the tune among Sliabh Luachra musicians. See notes for "Lark's March" and "Geese in the Bog" for more on this old and interesting tune family (caveat: sometimes tune parts are reversed).
