This very popular hornpipe was entered as "Lawson's Hornpipe [1]" in the c. 1850 music manuscript collection of musician biography:John Roose, who himself resided in Manchester, North West England. It goes by a variety of titles, although "Manchester Hornpipe (1)" seems to be the most popular.
