MÁIRE NÍ EIDHINN. AKA and see "Ruaig an Mí-ádh" (Banish Misfortune (1)), "Bag of Meal (The)," "Humors of Mullinafauna (1)," "Judy Hynes," "Nancy Hines," "Nancy Hynes," "Parish Girl (2)," "Round the Carthouse." Irish, Jig. The tune was printed under this title by Petrie in his 1905 Complete Collection (1542). Petrie takes his title from the poem "Máire Ni Éidhin" by Raftery, the blind poet of Connacht, which he wrote in honor of one thought the loveliest girl in Ireland and which is still sung to this tune. See note for "Banish Misfortune (1)," by which the tune is usually known nowadays.
