MRS. GRANT'S REEL [2]. AKA and see "Miss Lyall (2)." Scottish, Reel (cut time). A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. A version of the reel was entered into the large 19th century music manuscript collection[1](No. 330, p. 92) of prosperous dairy farmer, miller, sometime printer and bookbinder, and fiddler [[biography:James Barry|]] (1819-1906) of Six Mile Brook, Pictou County, northern Nova Scotia. Barry had the tune from his friend and mentor, local fiddler Finlay McIntyre, whose strathspey and reel playing Barry held in esteem. However, Barry's tune is a poor rendition of "Miss Lyall (2)" and is missing most of the numerous accidentals of that tune. He identified "Miss Lyle" [sic] as an alternate title, but may have added the identification later.
