"Patty O Will Catch You" was in the repertoire of Copen, Braxton County, central W. Va., fiddler Melvin Wine (1909-2003). The title is a variation of "Pateroller'll get You" (The Patroller will get you) AKA - "Run Johnny Run (1)", the name of a song and tune fairly widespread in the American South and Midwest, which has associations with slavery.
