SAUTEUSE, LA. French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAABB. "La Sauteuse" comes from the playing of Wilbrod Boivin, a Quebec harmonica player. The Sauteuse is a leaping waltz commonly done in 2/4 rather than 3/4 time, similar in pattern (leap-glide-close) to the Redowa and Waltz Galop of the later nineteenth century.
