TEAR IT TO RAGS (Stróic ina Ghiobail É). Irish, Single Jig (12/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Tear it to Rags" can be found in the large c. 1880's music manuscript collection of fiddler and uilleann piper biography:Stephen Grier, of Farnaght, Co. Leitrim. Fr. John Quinn identifies Grier's tune as a single jig version of "Limestone Rock," "You Never Saw Her Equal" and "Girl in Danger (2) (The)." He also clarifies that the tune labelled "Tear it to Rags" in Brendan Breathnach's Ceol Rince na hÉirreann vol. IV (1996; No. 67, p. 33) is not in fact the tune of that title in Book 4 of Grier's large manuscript collection; rather Breathnach's transcription is of an untitled 12/8 tune with a similar start on the next page of the Grier ms. (Book 4, No. 33, p. 9).
