The tune was published as "New Polish Waltz" by New York music publisher Edward Riley in his Riley's Flute Melodies vol. 3 (1820). More than twenty years later Boston music publisher Elias Howe printed it as "Tempest Waltz [2]" in his Second Part of the Musician's Companion (1843).
