"Welcome to the Country" is a reel that was entered into at least three important Irish music manuscripts of the latter 19th century: County Cork Canon biography:James Goodman's mid-19th century collection, County Leitrim musician biography:Stephen Grier's 1883 collection, and the biography:Rev. Luke Donnellan music manuscript collection^[1].

↑ Donnellan researcher Gerry O'Connor came to believe the ms. is not the work of the south Ulster curate but rather was originally compiled by an unknown but able fiddler over the course of a playing lifetime, probably in the late 19th century. The ms. later came into the possession of Donnellan, who was also a fiddler.
