BIG MUDDY. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Missouri. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. A member of the large "My Love is But a Lassie Yet (1)/My Love She's But a Lassie Yet (1)" tune family, in the repertoire of Missouri train engineer and dance fiddler Glenn Rickman. Rickman recalled that he often played this tune for dancing, especially a memorable night in 1931 when a fight broke out over a half-pint of moonshine.

Source for notated version: Glenn Rickman (1901-1982, Hurley, Missouri) [Beisswenger & McCann].
