Biographical notes
Oral History from Raymond Cox, son of William A. Cox
When Andy Palmer came to town (Anderson County), he would always look up “Doc” Cox to join him in playing around the neighborhood. We determine that he met Andy when he lived in Shelby County in 1910 as they are listed very closely in the 1910 Census. This was also close to Louis Thomas Cook.
He didn’t think Andy ever worked. He was always coming in on the train. A musician friend, Cecil Thurman, confirms daddy’s story, that he never held a job.
Palmer worked as a brakeman for the L & N Railroad.
