Biographical notes

GEORGES FRAPPIER (1886-1961) was born in St-Alexis-des-Monts, Quebec, northwest of Trois RiviĂšres near Lake Sacacomie. He was the son of a farmer and his wife, and one of eighteen children (13 of whom survived to adulthood), though it was Georges who took over the family farm in 1915. He was one of the first traditional Quebec fiddlers to be commercially recorded, issuing his first sides in 1921 for Compo-Starr. Georges came from a musical family with several immediate and extended family members playing various instruments and singing.
