BONAPARTE IN A KNAPSACK. English. Published in William Campbell's dance book (No. 22), published around the time of the battle of Waterloo. The melody also appears in the music manuscript collection of musician John Fife, who is thought to have lived in Perthshire and who also may have compiled some of his manuscript at sea. He began his ms. in 1780.
