BRITAIN'S SUCCESS. English, Jig. A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was first printed in London publisher John Young's Part II of the Dancing Master (3rd edition, 1718, and later in the 4th edition of 1728), and in John Walsh's Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing Master (London, 1719). Young was heir to the Playford publishing concern, and took over the long-running Dancing Master series from Henry Playford.

Printed source: Barnes (English Country Dance Tunes, vol. 2), 2005; p. 15.
