STRAWBERRY BANKS, THE. AKA - "Straw Berry Banks." AKA and see "Blackberry Blossom (6)," “Early Rose (The),” “Kiss the Bride.” Irish, Reel (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Strawberry Banks" is reel with a history of having had a fluid title. The tune was entered as "Straw Berry Banks" into the mid-19th century music manuscript collection (vol. 4, p. 53) of County Cork Church of Ireland cleric and uilleann piper James Goodman, a version of which was later printed by P.W. Joyce (1909) with the same title. The reel was also entered into the latter-19th century Rice-Walsh manuscript from County Kerry fiddle teacher Jeremiah Breen, although under the title "Early Rose (The)," and County Leitrim fiddler Stephen Grier penned it into Book 2 of his large c. 1883 music manuscript collection as "Blackberry Blossom (6)."
